The Judge Ricardo H. Garcia Regional Juvenile Detention Facility is a 50-bed pre-adjudication and post-adjudication, Secure residential treatment program consisting of specialized treatment programs provided by Licensed Professional Counselors, 3 Certified Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors and Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Providers.
Sex Offender Treatment / AIDS & Sex Education
Integrating the most current and effective sex offender treatment services for males available with a cognitive behavioral approach focused on thinking errors and cognitive restructuring.
Behavioral Health Services (Individual, Group, & Family)
Providing services for male residents who display persistent and severe emotional difficulties and who cannot respond to treatment in a less restrictive environment.
Diagnostic Assessment / Crisis Intervention Treatment
Providing short-term, cost effective stabilization and evaluation for males with recommendations for continuing treatment options. Mental Health Services Provided by Licensed Professional Counselor who is on Staff along with in house Psychiatric Services for Medication reviews and evaluations
Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Services
Serving adolescent males with behavior disorders and chemical abuse or dependency issues.
Habitual Offender Treatment
Serving aggressive young males who are in need of a highly structured and restrictive environment. Most of these youth will have had significant histories of delinquent or criminal activity.
Information for Duval County Victims
When a Juvenile is referred to our office from one of our local authorities, the Victims of Crime department will contact you to inform you of your rights.
Your rights as a victim can be found in Chapter 57 of the Texas Family Code.
A victim, a victim's guardian, or a close relative of a deceased victim has the following rights:
- Protection from harm or threats of harm arising from cooperating with prosecution efforts
- Victim or victim's family safety will be considered in decision making regarding the juvenile offender
- To provide victim impact information
- To receive information about victim compensation and available victim services
- A separate waiting area, or minimal contact with the juvenile offender or his or her relatives
- Prompt return of property held as evidence when it is no longer needed
Victims of juvenile offenders have the following rights if requested:
- Information on juvenile justice procedures
- Notification of relevant court proceedings and any schedule changes
- Participation in the parole or transfer process
- Notification of a transfer, release, discharge or escape of the offender
- Employer notification of necessary absences from work
